Unter dem Begriff Forensik werden die wissenschaftlichen Arbeitsgebiete
zusammengefasst, in denen kriminelle Handlungen zur Erzielung einer
rechtsgültigen Wahrheit erstens systematisch identifiziert bzw. ausgeschlossen
und zweitens analysiert und rekonstruiert werden. Das Prinzip der Forensik
geht von einem Ereignis und einem dazugehörigen Objekt aus, welches einem
Forum (Jury) präsentiert wird. Durch die Hilfe von Personen oder Technologien
wird versucht zwischen Objekt und Forum zu vermitteln. Ziel ist es das Objekt
über seine physische Beschaffenheit hinaus, als ein Paradigma für den jeweiligen
Kriminalfall zu identifizieren.
