Autonomous geospatial strategies of remote sensing

The Flight Riot collective comes with a very dedicated research approach on – as we would say – landscape practice: 3D reconstruction of earth’s surface by the use of “Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS), often referred to as UAV or ‘drones’, in conjunction with geospatial technology.” Impressively, they use DIY and open source technology solely, sharing every little detail from drone construction, about camera hacks, to software implementation used to generate landscape models. Their work shows a beautiful adaption of military-based technology, for peaceful application use in explorative fieldwork.
