As we approach the limit of our vision, we pause to start back home.
– Philip Morris narrating Power Of Ten
Coming back once more to the last two articles. (which were on the subject of the grid-visibility inside of a blank landscape or void and the impossible task of ever escaping the rectangular). Daniel Fernández Pascual of DECONCRETE pointed out a confirming proof that the grid is all that is left when there is nothing else left. Even extending into a void that supposedly reaches the edge of present understanding.
It can be found in the 1968 American documentary short film titled: Power Of Ten.
‘Powers of Ten takes us on an adventure in magnitudes. Starting at a picnic by the lakeside in Chicago, this famous film transports us to the outer edges of the universe. Every ten seconds we view the starting point from ten times farther out until our own galaxy is visible only as a speck of light among many others. Returning to Earth with breathtaking speed, we move inward- into the hand of the sleeping picnicker – with ten times more magnification every ten seconds. Our journey ends inside a proton of a carbon atom within a DNA molecule in a white blood cell.
When we finally reach the limits of our vision in the endless void of the universe or in front of a spectral single proton we are not helplessly caught in it, but confidentially lean against the measuring frame that assures us; Yes, this emptiness is normal my friend, borrow my eyes and I frame it for you so you don’t have to drown in it!
